Ceramic coating in San Marcos

It is also a place that works paint fairly hard. San Marcos sits inland of the coastal fog line, so the sun gets going here earlier in the day and stays on the car longer than it does at the beach. A car parked at Cal State San Marcos through a summer term, or sitting on a driveway up in San Elijo Hills, takes hours of hard direct sun a day — and sustained UV is what oxidises a clear coat and takes the depth out of a dark colour.

We are an authorized Opti-Coat installer, with tiers from a one-year ceramic paint protection up to Opti-Coat Pro at five years. Wind is less of a problem here than on the coast, which makes the practical side of the work more predictable.

At your address, or at our shop

Being the local city means both options are genuinely open here. Have us come to the house or the office, or drop the car with us and collect it later.

For a coating specifically, the shop is often the better choice. A coating has to cure in a clean, covered space with controlled conditions, and our shop is exactly that — no wind, no dust, no afternoon sun on the panels. If you have a garage bay free at home, mobile gives the same result; if you do not, the shop removes the problem entirely.

Either way it is the same work and the same technicians. From a San Marcos address the shop is a short trip rather than a journey, which is not true anywhere else we cover.

Around the university and San Elijo Hills

Two local patterns come up often enough to mention. Student cars around the university sit in an open lot for a whole term with very little attention, which usually means a longer correction stage before any coating can go on. Up in San Elijo Hills the cars are generally well kept but the driveways are exposed, so it is sustained UV rather than neglect that the coating is being asked to handle.

One thing to check first either way: if the paint feels gritty rather than dirty, that is usually overspray, and it needs overspray removal before anything is sealed over it. Coating over embedded overspray makes it permanent.
