Ceramic coating in Escondido

A ceramic coating is what stands up to that. It bonds to the clear coat and takes the UV instead of the paint taking it, so the depth stays in a dark colour and the trim around it does not chalk as fast. It also sheds water, which matters in a valley summer where a rinse dries before you have finished it and leaves mineral spotting baked on.

Why sustained valley UV is the real test

Coastal cars get salt and inland cars get sun, and of the two, sun is the one that works on paint every single day of a long season.

What it does is oxidise the clear coat. That is what turns a deep black into a flat grey-black, and it is why an eight-year-old car in this valley often looks older than an eight-year-old car in Encinitas. It polishes out, but a clear coat is only so thick and it can only be corrected so many times.

A coating is the layer that takes that instead, and it is why the money is better spent here than almost anywhere on the coast. The order matters though: correct first, coat second. A coating over an oxidised clear coat seals the problem in.

Wind is generally less of an issue in the valley than it is at the coast, which makes the practical side of the work fairly predictable. Heat is the constraint instead, so an early appointment or a garage bay gives a better result in midsummer.
