Overview

Don’t let vomit smells linger in your car. Accidents happen — kids get car sick, pets throw up, or a bumpy ride causes nausea. When someone vomits in your car it is not just unpleasant: stomach acid stains upholstery, the odor sinks into foam and carpet padding, and bacteria keep working long after the surface looks clean.

Smith Bros Mobile Detailing offers a fast and thorough vomit cleanup and odor removal service. We don’t cover the smell up — we deep clean, extract and sanitise every affected area with enzyme treatment, steam and ozone. We are mobile, so we come to your home, office, or wherever your car is parked across San Diego County.

Vomit decontamination is $249, and standalone ozone odor treatment is $249.

Why Fast Cleanup Is Important

Vomit contains acid, bacteria, and strong odors that can sink into your seats and carpets. If not cleaned properly and quickly, it can:

  • Soak deep into upholstery, foam and carpet padding
  • Leave permanent stains and etch light-coloured leather
  • Create long-term odors that return with heat and humidity
  • Grow bacteria or mold under the carpet
  • Lower your car’s resale value

A summer car parked in the San Diego sun accelerates every one of those. The sooner the affected area is treated, the less of the interior has to come apart.

Why Store-Bought Cleaners Usually Fail

Many people try to fix vomit smells with sprays, wipes, or regular household cleaners. While it might seem like a quick solution, these products often don’t work for car interiors. Here’s why:

  • They only mask the smell – Air fresheners or surface sprays may cover the odor for a while, but they don’t remove what’s deep in the fabric or foam.
  • No deep cleaning power – Vomit soaks into seats, carpets, and padding. Store-bought cleaners can’t reach those hidden layers.
  • Not designed for bio-mess – Most over-the-counter products aren’t made to break down bile, stomach acid, or bacteria.
  • Risk of staining or damage – Using the wrong cleaner can cause discoloration or make the stain harder to remove later.

Professional-grade cleaners like the ones we use contain enzymes that break down organic waste completely. That’s why Smith Bros Mobile Detailing provides long-lasting results — no cover-ups, no damage, and no smell left behind.

Vomit Cleanup & Odor Removal Pricing

Flat pricing, published up front:

  • Vomit Decontamination — $249. Enzyme treatment of affected areas, steam cleaning and ozone treatment. Additional labour on larger incidents is $45 per 30 minutes, quoted before we start.
  • Ozone Treatment — $249. An ozone generator run through the interior and ventilation system to permanently remediate airborne odors. Best combined with enzyme odor remediation.

Odor remediation uses an enzyme cleaner to treat areas of contamination from smoke, vomit, spills, pet stains, urine and feces. For best results we recommend adding the ozone treatment, which reaches the airborne odor the enzyme cannot.

If the interior also needs a full reset, see our detailing packages or mobile auto detailing. For odor caused by a rodent nest, the right service is rodent remediation.

How Our Odor Removal Process Works

Four steps at your home, office or wherever the car is parked.

1. Expert evaluation

We examine the car to find the true source and spread of the odor, which decides how far the treatment has to go.

2. Deep cleaning and extraction

Most odors embed in fabric, leather, carpet and other porous materials. We deep clean and extract to reach the stubborn sources, not just the surface.

3. Enzyme and ozone treatment

Enzymes break down the biological residue, then an ozone generator neutralises what is left airborne in the cabin and ventilation system.

4. Preventive advice

After cleaning we share tips and products to keep the car smelling fresh. A little maintenance goes a long way.

Vomit Cleanup & Odor Removal FAQs

How much does vomit cleanup cost for a car?

Vomit Decontamination is $249 and includes enzyme treatment of the affected areas, steam cleaning and ozone treatment. Larger incidents that need extra time are billed at $45 per 30 minutes, quoted before we begin.

Will the smell come back after cleaning?

Not when the contamination is fully removed. Enzymes break the organic waste down rather than covering it, and the ozone treatment clears airborne odor from the cabin and ventilation system. Odors return when a cleanup only treated the surface and left residue in the foam or padding underneath.

What is the difference between enzyme treatment and ozone treatment?

Enzyme treatment is applied directly to contaminated upholstery and carpet to break down bile, stomach acid and bacteria. Ozone treatment is an air treatment that neutralises odor molecules throughout the interior and ventilation system. The two work best together, which is why we recommend pairing them.

Is ozone treatment safe, and when can I drive the car again?

Yes. The generator runs in an unoccupied vehicle and the interior is aired out afterwards before we hand the car back, so it is ready to drive when we finish.

Do you remove pet, urine, smoke and spilled-food odors too?

Yes. The same enzyme and ozone process treats smoke, spills, pet stains, urine and feces. Odor caused by a rodent nest is handled by our rodent remediation service instead, because the nest and droppings have to come out first.

Do you come to me?

We are fully mobile. We clean up vomit and remove odors at your home, office, apartment garage or wherever the car is parked across San Diego County.

How soon should I book after the accident?

As soon as you can. Stomach acid keeps working on upholstery and the odor migrates deeper into foam and padding with time and heat, so an early appointment means less of the interior needs treatment.
