Ceramic coating in Encinitas

That is the combination a ceramic coating is built for. Salt bonds to paint rather than resting on it, and UV works on the clear coat every hour the car is outside. A coating takes both, and what you notice is that the frequent rinsing a coastal car needs stops being a job — the salt has nothing to hold onto and comes away with water.

We are an authorized Opti-Coat installer and we fit coatings across the whole city, from Old Encinitas and the 101 through New Encinitas along Encinitas Boulevard and out to Olivenhain. Tiers run from one year up to five with Opti-Coat Pro.

Salt, sand and a coated car

It is worth being precise about what a coating does and does not do on a beach car, because both halves matter.

It does stop salt bonding. That is the big one here. Salt on an uncoated panel keys into the clear coat and needs a real wash; on a coated panel it sits on top and rinses away. On a car parked near the sand, that changes the maintenance more than anything else you can do to it.

It does not stop sand scratching. Sand on a cloth is abrasive whatever is underneath, which is why dry-wiping a beach car is still the fastest way to put swirls in it. The coating takes that damage instead of the paint, which is better, but the habit is still worth breaking.

For the sun coming through the glass rather than onto the paint, window tinting in Encinitas is the other half, particularly for a car that sits in an open beach lot all afternoon.

The one requirement is a clean, covered space for the coating to cure in. Out in Olivenhain and across New Encinitas that is usually a garage and it is straightforward. Closer to the 101, where plenty of homes have no driveway and parking is kerbside, it needs a bit more planning — tell us the parking situation when you book rather than on the day.

Allow proper time. The decontamination and correction stage is most of the appointment, and on a coastal car with bonded salt in the paint it is longer than average. It is also the stage that decides how the finished car looks.
