Mobile Window Tinting in Carlsbad

Carbon and ceramic film, fitted on your driveway

Rated 5 stars 5.0 1,000+ five-star reviews on
Overview

We install window tint at your place in Carlsbad, not ours.

Tint is not only about how the car looks. The right film cuts the heat that builds up in a parked car, takes the glare out of a commute and keeps UV off your seats and dash. Parked this close to the coast, salt air and beach sand work at your paint and trim all year, and the afternoon sun coming off the water is harder on an interior than most people expect.

We fit carbon and ceramic films, from a straightforward carbon tint up to Apex Ultra ceramic at 95% heat rejection, and we will tell you honestly which one is worth the difference for how you actually drive. Every package, price and coverage diagram is set out on this page, so you can decide before you call.

Film needs a clean, covered space to go on well, so a garage or carport is ideal. Our technicians are licensed and fully insured. Family-run since 1994, rated 5.0 across more than 1,000 five-star reviews on Google, Yelp and Facebook.

Packages & pricing

Window tint packages, prices and coverage

Three full-car film tiers, plus front-window and windshield options you can fit on their own. Prices are set by the film you choose and the size of the vehicle, from a coupe up to a full-size SUV or truck, because bigger and more complex glass takes more film and more time.

These are the same prices we charge anywhere in San Diego County, so nothing here is marked up for Carlsbad. Each package below shows what the film does, exactly which glass it covers, the shades you can pick from and the warranty that comes with it.

The tier most Carlsbad drivers land on. Pro Nano rejects noticeably more heat than carbon without going any darker, which matters more than shade does on a car that sits out near the coast.

All five options are available on-site in Carlsbad except Bronze C2 Carbon, which is in-shop only. If you want the full technical comparison of every GeoShield film we carry, that lives on the main window tinting service page.

Choosing your shade, and what is legal in California

Every package above lets you pick a shade, measured as VLT, or Visible Light Transmission. That number is the share of visible light the film lets through, so a 70% film is very light and a 5% film is limousine dark. The strip above shows the five shades side by side.

California sets the rule, not the city, so the law is the same in Carlsbad as anywhere else in the state. Front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any shade you like.

Is a 35% tint legal in California?

On the back, yes. A 35% film is legal on rear side windows and the rear windshield, and it is a popular choice for privacy. It is not legal on the front two side windows, where 70% is the limit. If someone offers to fit 35% up front, they are quoting you a fix-it ticket.

This trips people up because darker feels like it should mean cooler. It does not. A 70% Apex Ultra ceramic film rejects far more heat than a dark carbon film does, because the heat rejection comes from the ceramic particles in the film rather than from how dark it looks. If your problem is a hot cabin rather than privacy, spend the money on the film and stay light at the front.

We will talk the combination through with you before anything goes on the car, so it ends up road-legal and actually does what you wanted.

Why we fit GeoShield film

We are a GeoShield dealer and we fit their film exclusively, across all three tiers. The short version of why: the ceramic films use nano-ceramic particles to block heat rather than a metal layer, so they reject a lot of infrared without interfering with phone signal, GPS or tyre-pressure sensors the way older metallised films could.

The films are scratch-resistant on the surface, they hold their colour instead of turning purple after a few summers, and the two ceramic tiers carry a lifetime film warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change. Cheap film is cheap because it does none of that.

On a car kept in Carlsbad there is a second reason worth mentioning. Salt in the air is hard on trim and glass seals, and a properly fitted film with clean, tucked edges gives the top of the glass one less place to collect grit. Bad edge work is the thing that fails first near the coast.

The full film-by-film breakdown, including how each one performs against the others, is on the main window tinting service page.

How mobile window tinting works in Carlsbad

We come to you: your home or office, or your own garage. Film work wants a clean, covered space, so a garage or carport gives the best result. Wind is the real enemy, not temperature, and a driveway a few blocks off the coast on a breezy afternoon is a harder place to lay film than a closed garage.

One exception worth knowing about is the C2 Carbon film, which is in-shop only, both as the Bronze full-car tier and as the front-window option. That work is done at our San Marcos shop, which is about twenty minutes from Carlsbad Village on the 78, and it is the reason Bronze is priced lower than the ceramic tiers.

What the appointment looks like

We are out seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, and we cover all of Carlsbad, from the Village and the coast down through Aviara and La Costa and inland to Bressi Ranch and the Palomar Airport business parks. Your technician texts on the way and again when the car is finished, so you are not waiting around for a window that never opens.

A full-car tint is normally a half-day job. We need the car with us for the whole appointment, and enough room to open all the doors.

After we leave

Leave the windows up for three days while the film cures. Some haze, small bubbles or trapped moisture is completely normal straight after an install and clears on its own, typically in one to two weeks in summer. Through a grey Carlsbad marine layer in winter it can take three to four weeks, which is longer than most people expect but not a fault. We walk you through all of it before we go.

What Carlsbad drivers say

Rated 5 stars
I recently got a new car and needed the windows tinted. Luke was very informative and accommodating, and they scheduled me the same day. The techs were very professional and did an amazing job. They explained the aftercare and after two days the little imperfections were completely gone. I have a perfectly smooth tint on all my windows.

We had both of our cars fully detailed on two separate days by two different techs and had phenomenal service from both Ethan and Gavin. Both were friendly and on time and did a great job. I liked the feature where I was texted with arrival and when they were finished. Such a better option. I will definitely use their services again.

I have used this business probably a dozen times for various vehicles including the fleet trucks for my shop, and without exception they are the best in the business. I have yet to have a technician show up late or in a bad mood. Every one of them is truly engaged in what they're doing and gives helpful advice. Keep up the good work and I will keep using you folks.

More finished cars, tint and everything else we do, are in our work.

Can I add ceramic coating, PPF or detailing?

A ceramic coating does for your paint what ceramic film does for your glass: it rejects UV, sheds water and keeps the finish from dulling. We are an authorized Opti-Coat installer, with tiers from $599. See the tiers and pricing.

Paint protection film takes the rock chips and road debris that a coating cannot stop, with packages from $1,000 using self-healing Autobahn film. See PPF packages.

Booking more than one at a time saves you an appointment, since the car only has to be free once. We also fit mobile auto detailing in Carlsbad, ceramic coating in Carlsbad and paint protection film in Carlsbad.

We cover the rest of North County too, including Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Encinitas, Cardiff and Leucadia. The full list of what we do is on the services page.

Carlsbad window tinting FAQs

How much does window tinting cost in Carlsbad?

Full-car film runs from $249 for Bronze carbon on a coupe up to $699 for Gold ceramic on a full-size SUV, plus tax. Front windows only start at $149, and a windshield runs $299 to $499 depending on the film and the vehicle.

Every price is broken out by vehicle type in the packages above, so you can price your own car rather than working from a range. Carlsbad is charged at the same rates as the rest of San Diego County.

What tint is legal in California?

Front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any shade you want.

We will walk you through a combination that stays legal, and a 70% ceramic film at the front still rejects a lot of heat.

Is a 35% tint legal in California?

On the rear side windows and rear windshield, yes. On the front two side windows, no. Those are held to 70% VLT, so a 35% film up front is not road-legal in California.

Can you tint at my house in Carlsbad?

Yes, and that is how most of our tint work happens. Film wants a clean, covered space, so a garage or carport is ideal, and it matters more than usual on a windy day near the coast.

The C2 Carbon film is the one exception and is in-shop only, whether you take it as the Bronze full-car tier or as the front-window option. That is fitted at our San Marcos shop, about twenty minutes away.

Can you remove my old tint first?

Yes. Tint removal is $90 per hour and covers stripping the existing film off the vehicle before the new film goes on. How long it takes depends on the film and how long it has been on the car.

Old film that has gone purple or started bubbling is usually the slowest to come off. We will give you a realistic estimate once we have seen it.

How long before I can roll my windows down?

Three days. The film needs that time to adhere fully, and rolling a window down early can damage it.

Why does my tint look hazy or bubbled?

That is trapped moisture and it is normal straight after an install. It clears as the film cures, usually within one to two weeks in summer and three to four weeks in winter, when the Carlsbad marine layer keeps things damp and slows it down.

Does ceramic tint really block more heat?

Yes, and measurably so. C2 Carbon rejects about 50% of heat, Pro Nano Ceramic about 76%, and Apex Ultra Ceramic about 95%. All three block 99% of UV.

If a hot parked car is the thing you want to fix, that difference is what you are paying for, and it matters more than how dark the film looks.

Can I tint just the windshield or just the front windows?

Yes. Both are sold on their own and both are priced above. Front windows only is $149 to $249 depending on the film, and windshield film runs $299 to $499.

Front windows on their own is the common one for cars that came with factory-tinted rear glass. A windshield film is the one that deals with glare on a southbound I-5 commute.

Is the tint covered by a warranty?

The Silver and Gold ceramic packages carry a lifetime warranty on the film, as do the ceramic front-window and windshield options. The Bronze Carbon option carries a 3-year film warranty.

The warranty covers the film against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change.
