Mobile Window Tinting in Leucadia

Every package lets you choose a shade, measured as VLT, or Visible Light Transmission. It is the share of visible light the film lets through, so 70% is very light and 5% is limousine dark. The strip above shows the five shades together.

California sets this rule statewide, so Leucadia is treated no differently from anywhere else. Front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any shade you like.

Is a 35% tint legal in California?

On the back, yes. A 35% film is legal on rear side windows and the rear windshield and is a common privacy choice. It is not legal on the front two side windows, which are held to 70%. Anyone offering to fit 35% up front is quoting you a fix-it ticket.

The thing that trips people up is assuming darker means cooler. It does not. A 70% Apex Ultra ceramic film rejects far more heat than a dark carbon film, because the heat rejection comes from ceramic particles in the film rather than from how dark it looks. If the problem is a hot cabin and not privacy, spend on the film and stay light at the front.

We go through the combination with you before anything goes on the glass, so the car ends up legal and still solves the problem you had.

We come to you: the driveway, the street outside, your office, or a garage if you have one. Film wants a clean, covered space, so a garage or carport gives the best result. Wind, not temperature, is what makes an install hard, and much of Leucadia is old bungalows and apartments with nothing but kerbside parking a few hundred metres from the water. That is workable, but tell us when you book so we can plan for it rather than find out on the day.

The exception is the C2 Carbon film, which is in-shop only, both as the Bronze full-car tier and as the front-window option. That is fitted at our San Marcos shop, roughly twenty minutes inland, and it is why Bronze is cheaper than the ceramic tiers.

What the appointment looks like

We are out seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, covering all of Leucadia from the north end of Coast Highway 101 down towards the centre of Encinitas. Your technician texts on the way and again when the car is finished, so you are not waiting on a vague window.

A full-car tint is normally a half-day job. We need the car for the whole appointment and enough room around it to open every door.

After we leave

Windows stay up for three days while the film cures. Haze, small bubbles or trapped moisture is normal in the first days and clears on its own, usually within one to two weeks in summer. Through a grey, damp winter on the coast it can take three to four weeks. That is slower than most people expect but it is not a fault. We explain all of it before we go.
