Mobile Window Tinting in Oceanside

Every package above lets you choose a shade, measured as VLT, or Visible Light Transmission. That number is the share of visible light the film lets through, so 70% is very light and 5% is limousine dark. The strip above shows the five shades side by side.

The rule is set by the state, not by the city, so it is the same in Oceanside as it is anywhere else in California. Front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any shade you like.

Is a 35% tint legal in California?

On the back, yes. A 35% film is legal on rear side windows and the rear windshield, and plenty of people pick it for privacy. It is not legal on the front two side windows, which are held to 70%. Anyone offering to put 35% on the front is quoting you a fix-it ticket.

The part that surprises people is that darker does not mean cooler. A 70% Apex Ultra ceramic film rejects far more heat than a dark carbon film, because the heat rejection comes from the ceramic particles rather than from how dark the film looks. If the problem is a hot cabin rather than privacy, put the money into the film and stay light at the front.

We will go through the combination with you before anything goes on the glass, so the car ends up road-legal and still does what you wanted it to do.

We come to you: your driveway, your office car park, or your own garage. Film wants a clean, covered space, so a garage or carport gives the best result. Wind is the real problem, not temperature, and an open driveway a few streets back from the sand on a breezy afternoon is a harder place to lay film than a closed garage. If you are in an apartment near the harbour or down in South O with nothing but street parking, tell us when you book and we will work out where the car can go.

One exception is worth knowing about. The C2 Carbon film is in-shop only, both as the Bronze full-car tier and as the front-window option, because carbon has to be fitted indoors. That work happens at our San Marcos shop, which is a short run inland on the 78, and it is the reason Bronze is priced below the ceramic tiers.

What the appointment looks like

We are out seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, and we cover all of Oceanside, from the harbour and the pier through Fire Mountain and South Oceanside, out east along the 76 to Rancho Del Oro and Ocean Hills. Your technician texts on the way and again when the car is finished, so you are not sitting around waiting for a window that never opens.

A full-car tint is normally a half-day job. We need the car with us for the whole appointment and enough room around it to open every door.

After we leave

Leave the windows up for three days while the film cures. Some haze, small bubbles or trapped moisture straight after an install is completely normal and clears on its own, usually in one to two weeks over summer. When the marine layer sits on the coast for days at a time it can stretch to three or four weeks, which is longer than most people expect but is not a fault. We walk you through the whole thing before we pack up.
