Coating a car in the valley heat

Two practical points about doing this work here.

Temperature affects the application. A coating goes on best on cool panels in a covered space; on hot paint in direct sun it flashes off too quickly to be levelled properly. A garage solves it outright, and an early appointment solves most of it if there is no garage.

The prep stage is bigger than average. Cars that have spent several El Cajon summers outside usually have some oxidation in the clear coat, and that has to be polished out before anything is sealed over it. It is the difference between a coating that looks deep and one that looks like a glossy version of the problem.

Once it is on, the aftercare is straightforward and matters most in summer: rinse before dirt bakes on, avoid washing in the middle of a hot afternoon, and stay out of the drive-through brushes. For the chips a coating cannot stop, there is paint protection film in El Cajon.
