Mobile Window Tinting in Santee

Every package lets you choose a shade, measured as VLT, or Visible Light Transmission: the share of visible light the film lets through. 70% is very light, 5% is limousine dark. The strip above shows the five shades side by side.

The rule comes from the state, so Santee is treated the same as anywhere else in California. Front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any shade you like.

Is a 35% tint legal in California?

On the back, yes. A 35% film is legal on the rear side windows and rear windshield and is a common privacy choice. It is not legal on the front two side windows, which are held to 70%. Anyone offering to fit 35% up front is quoting you a fix-it ticket.

Out here the important correction is that darker does not mean cooler. A 70% Apex Ultra ceramic film rejects far more heat than a dark carbon film, because heat rejection comes from ceramic particles in the film rather than from the shade. If you want the car cooler, the film is the lever, not the darkness.

We come to you: home, driveway, yard or workplace. Film wants a clean, covered space, so a garage or carport gives the best result, and shade is worth having on a hot afternoon. Wind is less of an issue here than at the coast, so open-driveway work is generally fine, but under cover is always better.

The C2 Carbon film is the exception. It is in-shop only, both as the Bronze full-car tier and as the front-window option, and that work happens at our San Marcos shop. Given the distance, most Santee customers take one of the ceramic tiers we can bring out instead, which suits the heat better anyway.

What the appointment looks like

We are out seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, covering Santee from the Town Center and Mission Gorge Road across to the neighbourhoods near the lakes and up towards the 67. Your technician texts on the way and again when the vehicle is finished.

A full-car tint is normally a half-day job. We need the vehicle for the whole appointment and enough room to open every door. In midsummer an early appointment is more comfortable all round.

After we leave

Keep the windows up for three days while the film cures. Haze, small bubbles or trapped moisture is normal at first and clears on its own, usually inside one to two weeks. Dry inland heat tends to speed that up rather than slow it down.
