Mobile Window Tinting in Lakeside

Every package lets you choose a shade, measured as VLT, or Visible Light Transmission: the share of visible light the film lets through. 70% is very light, 5% is limousine dark. The strip above shows the five shades side by side.

This is state law rather than a local rule, so Lakeside is no different from anywhere else in California. Front side windows must let at least 70% of visible light through. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any shade you like.

Is a 35% tint legal in California?

On the back, yes. A 35% film is legal on the rear side windows and rear windshield and is a popular choice on trucks. It is not legal on the front two side windows, which are held to 70%. Anyone offering to fit 35% up front is quoting you a fix-it ticket.

The thing worth being clear about in this heat is that dark does not equal cool. A 70% Apex Ultra ceramic film rejects far more heat than a dark carbon film, because the ceramic particles do the work rather than the shade. Buy the film for the heat, and pick the shade for the look.

We come to you, which out here saves a serious drive. Film wants a clean, covered space, so a garage, carport or swept barn gives the best result. On a rural property the enemy is dust rather than wind: dirt and gravel drives put grit in the air, and it will find wet glass if we work in the open.

The C2 Carbon film is the exception, being in-shop only both as the Bronze full-car tier and as the front-window option. That is fitted at our San Marcos shop, and given the distance most customers here take one of the ceramic tiers instead, which handles the heat better regardless.

What the appointment looks like

We are out seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, covering Lakeside from the town centre out along the 67 and into the surrounding valley properties. Long driveways and gates are common, so tell us what we need when you book. Your technician texts on the way and again when the vehicle is finished.

A full tint is normally a half-day per vehicle. We need it with us for the whole appointment and enough room around it to open every door. In midsummer, an early slot is worth asking for.

After we leave

Keep the windows up for three days while the film cures. Haze, small bubbles or trapped moisture is normal at first and clears on its own, usually inside one to two weeks in this kind of dry heat.
