Bronze Ceramic Detail

A clay treatment removes contaminants, followed by one-step paint polishing to smooth and prepare the surface for ceramic coating. We then apply TEC582 Ceramic Paint Protection to all painted surfaces, providing a high-gloss finish and up to one year of durable protection.

Ceramic Maintenance Wash

Foam cannon wash with deionized water ensures a spotless finish, followed by touchless blow drying to prevent streaks. Wheels are detailed, and tires dressed for a clean look. Interior cleaning includes thorough vacuuming, along with dash, door panels, console, door jambs, and windows wiped down for a fresh, polished appearance.

Ceramic coating in Coronado

Salt here is not seasonal or occasional, it is the standing condition. It settles as a haze whether the car moves or not, bonds to paint and glass rather than resting on them, and holds moisture in every seam. A ceramic coating gives it nothing to key into, which changes the maintenance from a weekly wash to a rinse and takes the twin UV load off the clear coat.

We are an authorized Opti-Coat installer and we bring the coating to you, from the village around Orange Avenue down the Strand. Tiers run from one year up to five with Opti-Coat Pro.

The hardest salt environment we work in

Being surrounded by water on three sides means there is nowhere on the island that is genuinely sheltered from salt air. That has two practical consequences.

The first is that the preparation before a coating takes longer here. Bonded salt has to come off completely, and on a car that has been on the island for years without decontamination there is usually more of it than the owner expects. Coating over it would trap it against the paint.

The second is that the coating does more work per year than the same coating would inland, which is exactly why it is worth having. What you feel is the maintenance: a rinse clears a coated Coronado car, where an uncoated one needs a proper wash to get the salt film off.

Trim and brightwork are worth mentioning too. Aluminium and chrome oxidise faster in salt air, and both are much easier to keep on top of than to bring back once they have gone.

Where a coating can be applied on the island

A coating needs a clean, covered space to cure in, and on Coronado a garage is usually the best space available: covered, out of the wind and off the street. If you have one, that is where we would rather work.

A driveway can work in still conditions. A shared or assigned space works too, provided there is room to open the doors and walk around the car. If the car normally street-parks near the village or along the Strand, tell us when you book and we will sort out where it can go for the appointment.

We are out seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, and we also cover Downtown San Diego, East Lake and Pacific Beach. For the chips a coating cannot stop, there is paint protection film in Coronado as well.
